For whom the bell tolls
Markel International is helping to restore sound and spirit to the City of London. As a contributor to the restoration fund for St Katharine Cree, the company is supporting the renovation of an ancient church that stands almost opposite the Markel Building in Leadenhall Street. The church is being extensively renovated to preserve a heritage that dates from the 13th century, and the work so far includes repairs to the organ, which was played by Purcell, Handel and Wesley, and repairs to the bells - celebrated in the nursery rhyme 'Oranges and Lemons'.
